Math Rock
This was originally a tiny segment of text added to the About page of this site. It was added in September 2014 to add color to otherwise bland about/resume-type content.
Interestingly, it's fostered conversation among friends and colleagues (including drums, beer, and coffee).
It digs a little deep. There are just certain things that our friends and family don't like. I want to think that we all have a genre or artist we queue up when we're alone. We're in guilty pleasure territory. For you, it might be ABBA, One Direction, or Trap Rap, but for me, it's Math Rock.
Odd time signatures, progressive compositions, and drastic dynamic shifts sound like music to my ears. If you are math rock curious, I highly recommend the following;
Easier Listening: TTNG (This Town Needs Guns), Faraquet, Tubelord, Tricot, Don Caballero, Toe, The Redneck Manifesto
Heavier Listening: Coheed & Cambria, Fates Warning, Spiral Architect, Closure in Moscow, Damiera
