Recurring Revenue for Squarespace Designers
I had the pleasure of co-hosting a workshop with Henry Purchase to share how we've both built successful recurring revenue streams in the Squarespace ecosystem. Since I've been designing websites since 1996, I've seen it all – but it wasn't until 2022 that I cracked the code on predictable, recurring revenue, with productized services at Resonant Pixel Co.
Henry Purchase, founder of SEOspace, brings a wealth of experience in SEO optimization for Squarespace sites. As the creator of an SEO plugin used by over 6,000 websites and the founder of SEO Space Academy, he's generated over $1 million in SEO services, with over half coming from recurring revenue streams. Full disclosure, my company leverages SEOspace for on-site SEO optimization for our website subscription customers–we love it.
The goal of the session was to inspire ideas and illustrate how they can become service offerings. We covered strategies from content-based revenue streams like YouTube and blogging to service-based offerings like SEO and social media management. I also shared insights on productizing a service. Focusing on the transformation and outcomes for clients by creating a clear process and systematizing delivery makes all the difference.
I always get excited about this topic. The transition to recurring revenue represents a significant opportunity for Squarespace designers to build more sustainable, profitable businesses.
