My Word Theme for 2025
Every year.
Every year, I catch myself wearing more hats in the business than I should.
At that point, I always recall something I read in the book "Clockwork" by Mike Michalowicz. It’s a framework that makes me rethink how I show up in my business. In the book, he suggests entrepreneurs should think more like investors (focused on ROI and growth) than individual contributors (focused on delivery and client relationships).
Here's the thing - I know first-hand that trying to be all things at once is a recipe for burnout. I learned it the hard way when I first started Resonant Pixel Company. I was the designer, the strategist, the account manager, the sales team, and the visionary, all rolled into one sleep-deprived package. That was five years ago, and it’s still largely the case. It’s time to change that.
When you clearly define your primary role, everything else starts falling into place. For me, the plan for 2025 is to embrace the role of “creator” while building systems to support the other functions. I hope that it’s game-changing. I’ve built an incredible productized service that serves my clients and my sanity brilliantly. There is only one way to grow a modern productized service business: content.
My word for 2025 is “publish.”
That’s it.
